Information About Kelly:
Personal Description:
I am a teacher, practicing writer, home tutor and examiner. I have Qualified Teaching Status in secondary English and a first class honours degree in Creative and Media writing. When I am not teaching I take care of my two children or write. I write for a few websites, as well as performing poetry on the local circuit. I am also in the process of writing a novel and television sketch show. I run my own website and and blog and feel that I have a lot to offer teaching English and English based subjects, as I am very passionate and knowledgeable about my subject.
Teaching Experience:
I have coached adults and children successfully through their English exams, all with great results. In addition I have also tutored children and adults in reading and writing skills. I also tutor teenagers and adults in creative writing. References can be provided. I have worked both as a full-time English teacher and a supply teacher. I mark GCSE exams for EdExcel.
Tutoring Approach:
I offer a creative approach to my pupils. As a tutor I seek to uncover the learning needs of my students which results in my students finding interest and sense from a subject that may have previously frustrated them. I am professional, but approachable, with a good sense of humour and I am firm but fair to all my students.. I can travel to you or you to me and I am also fine with online and telephone tutoring - although I tend to feel a one-on-one meeting works better for both pupil and teacher.
