Personal Description:

I hold a Spanish teaching certificate from the Instituto Cervantes (the Internationally-recognised Spanish culture and language institute) and a first-class degree (BA) in Spanish. In addition, I recently qualified to teach in Adult Education by gaining the PTLLS qualification (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning sector), and am also trained in participatory teaching method (popular education theories) which influence my teaching style.

I previously lived and worked in Mexico and Peru and have used Spanish in a professional context as a freelance interpreter and for other commercial companies. In addition I am CRB/DRB-checked.

I am very keen to share my enthusiasm for the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures with willing students and will tailor lessons to suit your personal requirements and interests, whether Spanish for academic exams, work or travel. A consultation class can be booked to gauge your level.

Teaching Experience:

I have more than 2 years' experience in providing private, easily digestible, flexible Spanish tuition to adults, GSCE students and those learning for professional reasons. I currently deliver a Spanish course for adults in Chorlton and will soon be rolling this out into other areas of South Manchester. In addition, I have also taught adults courses on other subjects such as job hunting skills, CV writing and self-esteem/ confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

In my experience, pupils engage best with a foreign language when it is used in context since this brings the words and grammar to life and gives it a purpose. I understand how intimidating foreign language learning can be and make sure I simplify grammar and explanations as much as possible to make new information digestible. I focus on encouraging confidence in spoken Spanish, which makes the class more fun, but will happily tailor the classes to suit the individuals' needs and interests.
