Personal Description:
Violin, flute and piano teaching offered. I teach individual pupils or group classes.
I studied classical violin and piano at the Birmingham Conservatoire and have the BA Joint Honours English and Music Degree from the University of Birmingham.
Traditional folk fiddle classes are also available either in workshops or on a one-to-one basis.
I undertook Solo Violin Performance in my Final Year at university (equivalent to Diploma Level) and I have Grade 8 in both piano and flute.
I perform regularly with several different groups included world-folk group Little Sister and folk band Mad Jocks and Englishmen.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching for over a year to adult-beginner students and have experience leading fiddle workshops at summer festivals such as Priddy Folk Festival.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a professional outlook on a students development and I believe that working through grades such as the Associated Board, although not suitable to some students, are a preferable way to give a student something to work towards. I also strongly believe in the development of listening skills and improvising to become a better all-round and creative musician.
