Personal Description:

I originally trained as a teacher in India and taught Maths and Science in a secondary school. After getting married I moved to England and worked as an industrial chemist at the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) for 3 years. I also did M.Sc. in organic chemistry during this period. After having a family I decided to give up my job so that I could spend more time in the development of my 2 children. When the children started growing up I joined the family business on a part-time basis to begin with and then got more actively involved as the children got older. However over the past few years I have again become involved in teaching other children.

Teaching Experience:

I taught Maths and Science for a few years in a secondary school in Mumbai and Gujrat, India until 1968.
I taught upto GCSE level Gujrati for 3 years at a community centre till last year in Birmingham.
I taught children about Hinduism as part of their cultural studies curriculum up to GCSE level at the same community centre.
I am doing voluntary work at a local primary school in Sutton Coldfield 1 day a week assisting in Maths and English studies for the last 9 months.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that I really enjoy teaching young children. I am very patient with them. I believe once they understand the principles of a subject, their grasping power to learn more complex ideas is greatly increased. Therefore I always make sure the child understands the foundation of the subject first. Once they start understanding the basic principles of the subject they find it very interesting and really enjoy learning.
