Chris - Edinburgh tutor
Information About Chris:
Personal Description:
I a Master's degree in physics and gained a 1st in physics from the University of Edinburgh. I am currently working for an educational simulation software company, designing online and virtual physics experiments for schools and colleges. I have a strong interest in physics education and I am a member of both the Association of Part-time Tutors and the Association for Science Education.
Teaching Experience:
I have experience tutoring first year undergraduate physics students in maths and physics. I was involved in both a Peer Assisted Learning Scheme (developing study skills and providing extra tutoring for fellow students) and mentoring first year students.
Tutoring Approach:
I emphasise exam-based learning and develop tailored, individual (and hopefully fun!) curricula to outline learning aims and objectives and to enable pupils to take responsibility for their learning and development. Regular Progress Reports are provided to highlight achievements and areas for improvement. Pupils are expected to complete short home assignments to develop problem solving skills and assess progress.
Subjects Taught:
Qualifications:
- Mphy Physics (Hons): 1st
