Information About Matthew:

Personal Description:

I am 29, and have recently gained a PhD in English Literature. I am very well qualified, and have published on Shakespeare. Besides this, I love teaching and have a real passion for the subject.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught one to one tutorials at undergraduate level at University College London, covering all periods from the Renaissance to contemporary American literature. I have also taught at Birkbeck College, Goldsmiths College and the Open University.

Tutoring Approach:

I encourage students to develop their personal responses to the curriculum, whilst also giving them a strong critical framework within which to work. English literature should be an immensely enriching and enjoyable subject, and I aim to make the set texts interesting and appealing to students.

Qualifications:

• BA in English Language and Literature, 1st Class
• MA in English, distinction
• PhD in English
