Personal Description:
I'm currently a mathematics teacher in a Welsh-medium school, following the WJEC syllabi and find the time spent in a 1-2-1 situation the most rewarding and beneficial to the child.
Teaching Experience:
I completed my Post-Graduate Certificate in Education in 2007 and a Masters degree in Education in 2010 and have been teaching and tutoring continuously since then, with classes ranging from year 7 to 11, as well as A-level classes, and those classes have been of all abilities, with SEN needs having to be considered at times also.
Tutoring Approach:
The child should lead the tutoring in my opinion. The tutor's role is one of support, explaining work that the child finds difficult and teaching other methods to complement those taught at the child's school. The child should be the one deciding what he or she wants to revise in the tutoring session, whether a recent homework or test, or more generally recent classwork.
If necessary I am more than willing to increase the amount of tutoring nearer exams or during school holidays.
