Claire - Exeter tutor
Information About Claire:
Personal Description:
I studied Psychology and Education for an undergraduate degree and went on further to complete an MSc in Psychology.
I am currently employed in the NHS as a Clinical Psychologist.
Teaching Experience:
I taught various subjects at Primary and Secondary level abroad while on a gap year. As part of my undergraduate degree I studied the theory and principles of education and its wider meanings.
This part of my degree allowed me to appreciate how difficult education for some can be and the different ways of learning that people have.
I have also been an A-Level examiner for coursework and exams. This experience has allowed me to gain an insight into the level of work needed to achieve a required grade.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach would be exploratory and supportive. I understand that the formal or traditional education system and methods of teaching may not suit every ones learning styles. Therefore, I try to incorporate ways of encouraging people to find a way of working and studying that is useful and helpful to them.
From my work I apply Psychological theory to real life situations which I draw upon on to bring the subject 'alive' and make it applicable and relevant to students on a day-to-day basis, making it easier to understand and exciting.
