Personal Description:

I am a 23 year journalist with a first degree in English Literature offering tutoring services.

English Literature has always been one of my passions. At GCSE I achieved A*, followed by a grade A at A Level and a 2.1 in English and Related Literature at York University.

I am a friendly, easy going yet organised and clear thinking individual who enjoys interacting with young people and helping them develop to their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

Over the past year I have been involved in several volunteering projects in local schools in Rotherham, using my English Literature and Journalism skills to help deprived children.

This has involved helping children write creative pieces, source stories for school magazines and learn how to use new technology recently introduced into the school.

I have a passion for education and enjoy interacting with pupils. My communication skills are highly developed and I have an easy going yet focussed teaching style.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is always to find a way that pupils can relate to the text.

With this technique, it is key to identify which examining board the candidate is using and structure all teaching around the specific assessment objectives of their mark scheme.

Structured tutorials are planned each week, whereby specific topics and themes are targeted.

Revision techniques, such as mind maps, practice essays and exam skills are all part of the programme.

If candidates feel they have any specific weaknesses, such as essay structuring or grammatical flaws, these can all be targeted to suit the pupil.
