Personal Description:
I have a background in Biology, having completed a degree at Manchester University in Biomedical Sciences achieving a high 2.1. Since graduating I have worked in research and published papers in both Nature Medicine and Neuron. I currently work in the Marketing department of a small and friendly scientific publisher. I have a passion and a understanding of Biology, and also the ability to teach it (I'm in marketing because I love to communicate about science).
Teaching Experience:
Although I have not yet tutored pupils on a one to one basis, many of my friends are teachers and I have recently helped organise many science activity days for their classes (primary and secondary schools). I loved doing this and I believe I helped the pupils understand science topics a little better. I have also used to work in a Nursery school as an assistant (part time) before I went to university and have a good ability with children.
Tutoring Approach:
I would have a organised and dedicated approach to tutoring - using the first session to highlight what your child needs to learn and understand in order to progress in his/her schooling. I would try to make lessons as interesting and inspiring for your children as possible and would be firm on homework if needed.
