Personal Description:
I am a retired teacher who wishes to keep active in the fields of education and learning. I have taught for many years as well as being active in youth work and am currently a member of the ACF (Army Cadet Force). I also have extensive experience of tutoring, having filled this role for the last three years with a numberof agencies.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught for nearly thirty years, in schools both abroad and in Britain. I have taught in private and state schools, was a Head of Department and a Head of Year for many years. I have taught Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Modular Science and Combined Science to KS3, KS4 and KS5. I have also been involved in Adult Education.
Tutoring Approach:
Most pupils benefit from a one-to-one approach, having the undivided attention of a qualified teacher. This, less formal environment tends to promote trust and aids the learning process. After a short time I can identify individual problems or issues and initiate learning strategies to overcome these. The importance of developing a confident, professional relationship with the pupil cannot be overstresed.
