Personal Description:

I am a qualified biologist (Chartered Status), Degree & Post Grad qualifications to my name; I adore cats & just about every other animal.

Tutoring is my work and I do that freelance now, at the student's home or, online. My tutees include A Level, GCSE including private students, college & school pupils.

More recently, I have begun tutoring Primary school pupils for maths to aid confidence and individual attention.

I am very friendly, open & have that much patience it surprises even me sometimes & just love meeting different people of all ages who want to learn & improve themselves. I have had other ventures such as delivering forensic science day courses and writing revision material for an online revision web site (A Level Human Biology).

Teaching Experience:

8+ years in FE with school age pupils, adults, teens; HE subjects & A Level / BTEC; IT tutoring, training; home tutoring & online tutoring. I am an external Verifier for Edexcel & have years of experience in BTEC delivery.

I currently do work for an Online School teaching iGCSE Sciences.

****I am covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance through the ASE (Association for Science Education ). This means that any student is protected if I make a mistake or you feel I have been negligent.

Tutoring Approach:

Depending on what the student wants, I tend to tutor to the exam with lots of exam questions & teaching tailored to specific topics that cause worries. I like to do practical activities & have a microscope to view slides & living specimens. I'll do simple dissections, experiments & other things to make the session more interesting. All my tutees say they like the chance to do practicals either because they didn't understand it at school or college or, because they are given the time to take it in or, just the chance to do it again.

I charge a travel fee (like most travelling tutors) of about 3.00 although this is variable according to distance of course. SPECIAL tutoring rate if you would like more than 1 hour at a time: 1 travel fee only charged e.g. GCSE 1.5 hrs = 25.00 + 1 x travel + 12.50.
