Personal Description:

I am a 26-year-old woman and enjoy a variety of hobbies including photography, reading, snowboarding, films and scrapbooking. I am approachable and friendly, and interested in tutoring both young people and adults with an aim of my own self-development as well as helping other people. I believe that language education is important in today's multinational arena and I am happy to help others learn such important skills, but at their own pace.

I myself have been a languages student from the ages of 10 until 22, and am aware of the challenges that a language-learner can face. I have worked in Paris as a translator, and also studied for 6 months at a French University. I also speak French on a day-to-day basis at work. As you can read from my teaching experience, I have also taught English as a foreign language to Chinese students.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a foreign language in China - at an Aviation University. The aim of this language education was to permit the students to study in Australia/USA for a year in order to complete their formal training and degree. I also held discusssion groups with adults who could speak intermediate/advanced English, in order to practice and improve their language and expressional skills - as well as help them understand the differences between English spoken in different countries. Students were of various levels - from not even basic knowledge, to a high conversational standard. I have covered many subjects, prepared lessons, used many resources, held discussions, and prepared/graded exams and homework. Finally, I have experience in private tuition of high-school age students on a one-to-one basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning another language should be fun and not only restricted to books, writing, or a classroom - in my past teaching experience, I have encouraged my students to choose their own path of learning by helping them suggest subjects to learn, talk about etc. I also think that learning about another country's culture as well as language is both important and interesting. I am happy to meet needs such as conversation preference, help with particular grammar, and help find resources in order to practice skills further.

• GCSE French
