Chris - Ascot tutor

Information About Chris:

Personal Description:

I am recently graduated with a double First from Cambridge University in Natural Sciences specialising in Plant Sciences. Before this I was 'Senior Scholar' at Charterhouse School. Currently I am taking an MSc in Quantitative Biology at the Silwood Park campus of Imperial College London.

Teaching Experience:

Over the summer of 2013 I had much experience giving private tuition in maths and sciences at a pre-GCSE and GSCE level building upon reams of informal experience at school helping those in lower years with their studies and I am confident in my ability to explain and express difficult concepts clearly, and I have recieved good feedback from previous tutees. I would also be very happy to take on teaching at A-level.

I am not a qualified teacher, but I would say this is an advantage in many ways as my sessions are not a continuation of school for my tutees!

Tutoring Approach:

I am a fervent believer that being genuinely interested in a subject is a necessary foundation to doing as well as possible. I always try to explain the bigger picture and place facts in a wider context following what the student expresses a major interest in to address their weaker areas - merely giving another lesson is not the best use of limited private tuition time.

I also normally have the first session as a trial to make sure everything is suitable.
