Personal Description:
Hi,
My name is Lucinda, I live in Putney and I'm currently on my gap year before studying Medicine at Edinburgh University this September. As well as my studies I'm an active and sociable person. I enjoy playing tennis, squash and lacrosse competitively and I have just been away in France working in a Hotel in Val D'Isere for the ski season. Before that, I was working as a nanny for a family in Sheen, so I have experience with children. I am planning to go travelling from 16th June but am living at home and free until this date.
I really enjoyed academic life at school and was proud of the grades I managed to achieve. At GCSE level I studied Maths, English Literature, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, French (achieved grade A* in these) and Spanish (achieved grade A). At A-level I studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths and also studied Physical Education to As-level. Achieving equivalent to A* (Maths), A (Biology, Chemistry, Physical Education).
Teaching Experience:
Although I have not officially done any tutoring before I have a younger sister (currently 14yr) who I have regularly helped over the years with her academic work.
Also for the past three summers I have coached lacrosse at 'Chiswick Lacrosse', giving me experience with children of different ages and further developing my communication skills.
Tutoring Approach:
I think it is really important that all academic work is driven by the individual, although at younger ages I appreciate they may need a lot of support and encouragement for this. I also think school work should be enjoyed and aim to make it as interesting as possible, mainly by using varied learning techniques.
