Personal Description:

I am a qualified Modern Foreign Languages teacher, having a degree in French Studies from the University of Nottingham, plus additional qualifications in Business German and competence in Spanish. I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a PGCE teaching qualification in Modern Foreign Languages in 2012 and have been working as a teacher since then in a comprehensive secondary school in Nottinghamshire. I am a very keen linguist/language learner and I enjoy travelling widely in Europe and Worldwide. Before re-training as a Teacher, I worked for 10 years as a Personal Assistant and Administrator in a number of large international corporations.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching across all ages and key stages. I qualified as a teacher of Secondary Modern Foreign Languages with the University of Nottingham in 2012 and have been working full-time as a teacher of French ever since then. I have taught pupils aged from 11-18 years old in a fully comprehensive, mixed ability secondary environment. During my PGCE studies, I taught in 2 different secondary schools - both fully comprehensive, mixed ability secondary schools, but of different sizes, one with 2600 pupils, the other with just 600. I also have experience supporting in a primary school over 2 different placements and delivering French lessons there. During the summer between qualifying as a teacher and starting to work in a school in September, I worked in a summer school for 5 weeks, teaching English to French and Spanish teenagers and accompanying them on excursions and trips; I gained my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification in 2009. Before training to be a teacher, I gained experience teaching adults working as a part-time volunteer teacher of Basic Skills and ESOL in the evenings at New College Nottingham and South Nottinghamshire College.

Tutoring Approach:

I am looking forward to tutoring pupils of all ages, from primary to adult learners of languages. I am able to adapt my approach and my tutoring to the needs and interests of the pupils, from preparation for GCSE and A-level, to business needs to holiday languages. I have a genuine passion for languages which I look forward to sharing.
