Danny - Fulham tutor
Information About Danny:
Personal Description:
Hey there. I'm Danny, and I'm a fifth year medical student at Imperial College London, but my interests aren't solely limited to medicine! I love learning new languages, travelling to new places, and am committed to furthering the education of the next generation.
Outside of medicine I love cycling and running; having previously completed several half marathons and a marathon, I'm working my way up to a triathlon. I'm also an active member of my local chess club, which I thoroughly enjoy. Music is also a large part of my life - I've played guitar for 8 years and am currently teaching myself classical guitar.
Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring officially for four years now, but also unofficially tutored my sister and other students for GCSE/AS Level previous to this. My experiences includes tutoring students in the areas of Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and German, and experience from the past few years has allowed me formulate my preferred method of tutoring and find out what works best for the student in question.
I now attend conferences aimed at helping younger students get into medical school, which includes conducting mock interviews, helping students with their personal statements and tutoring them.
I've previously been a Medic Dad, which mentoring a medical student in the first year and being an unofficial port of call if they need help with academic matters or otherwise. Finally, last year I was an OSCE tutor, mentoring medical students in the year below me in order to help them pass their practical exams.
Tutoring Approach:
The most important thing to me is that any tutee of mine understands the fundamental concepts of what they're learning, rather than simply rote learning, as much more is achieved this way. It's also important that I help encourage any tutee to enjoy what they doing. I like to approach topics with a comfortable attitude whilst still maintaining a firm schedule of work. I hope that my being a student will allow an informal atmosphere between myself and any tutee, and that we can build a good relationship during out tutoring time while still concentrating on the important goals together.
