Personal Description:

I am a 25 year old mechanical engineering graduate from UCL. Throughout my time in school, college and university i excelled in maths and other mathematical related subjects. I developed an interest in mathematics from a young age and i firmly believe that by mastering this particular subject, that further success in other scientific subjects can be achieved, as maths promotes utilising logic to deduce solutions to posed problems, which is a valuable attribute to have at your disposal at all levels of study.

I have tutored students in this field for many years and have seen them develop their mathematical skills and obtain the grades they required for progression into the next step of their education. I have a very positive and optimistic attitude towards teaching and learning, which i encourage the students to share, as i believe that the best results are obtained with putting in great effort and by having a positive attitude.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring pupils from a variety of backgrounds in maths since i was studying for my A-levels, which has given me plenty of years of experience. The majority of students i have taught for GCSE and A-level maths were sitting it on the Edexcel board, although i am flexible and have taught to students on other boards.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring students requires a very individualistic approach as each pupil has their own unique strengths and weaknesses in maths. As tuition with a specific student progresses, i will be able to assess which topics require additional focus, and of course i listen to the respective student's own thoughts on which topics they would prefer to focus on improving.

I generally teach topics from the particular text-book each student is using at the time. However, as the pupil makes progress though the text-book, i like to supplement their learning by going through past-paper questions with them, as i feel that from my own experiences and from what previous students have told me, that covering past-paper questions will best prepare them for the real thing, in terms of knowing what to expect and increasing their confidence.

• GCSE Maths = A*
