Personal Description:

I am an energetic and enthusiastic English teacher currently working at The City of Leicester College. Having taken the `Teach First` route into teaching, I have been judged as `outstanding` in lesson observations with specific comments made about the engaging and enjoyable nature of my lessons. The progress that students make within lessons has also been regarded as `excellent.`

Teaching Experience:

I believe that for learning in English to occur, students need the context to be relevant to their own lives and experiences something that I strive to achieve in all of my teaching and tutoring sessions. I have an extensive knowledge and understanding of the National requirements at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, whilst also possessing the skills to ensure that students understand how improved awareness of the English language can have a positive impact on their future careers. I am in my second year of teaching, but the nature of the Teach First scheme has seen me establish myself within The City of Leicester College extremely quickly. I am viewed as one of the leading teachers in the faculty with the Head Teacher of the school praising my ability to 'get the best and more' out of my students.

Tutoring Approach:

I began offering extra tuition to pupils that I taught very early on in my teaching career, seeing huge benefits in terms of the students grades as well as their overall enjoyment of the subject. The fact that I gained a First Class Honours degree in Psychology prior to training as an English teacher also allows me to offer my expertise to A Level Psychology students approaching their AS and A2 examinations and helps to ensure that my teaching remains as innovative as possible. I firmly believe that every student can achieve and I see it as my job to provide every student that I teach or tutor with the tools to do so.

• BA Psychology (First Class Honours)
• PGCE (rated 'Outstanding' by Teach First)
