Personal Description:

Hello my name is Dave, I tutor Maths and Science GCSE and A-level standards. My focus is to help tutees achieve their potential by developing a confidence and enthusiasm for their subjects. I'm a PhD student studying Materials Science at the University Of Manchester, prior to this I studied Chemistry & Physics at Durham University. I aim to use my strong mathematical background together with a friendly approachable manner to help students of all abilities realise that you don't need to be a 'genius` to achieve excellent results in exams.

Teaching Experience:

I have a track record in improving the confidence of students when tackling their chosen subjects, many students feel exams are designed to be failed when in fact exams are designed to be passed. I have tutored students both through university, demonstrating as part of undergraduate courses and as a private home tutor at GCSE and A-Level. In both roles I have helped students to improve grades from one level to the next and to supported high achievement as the exam difficulty increases.

Tutoring Approach:

I approach tutoring in a friendly approachable manner, encouraging questions in an attempt to get the student to take more ownership of their learning. Success is a partnership between the student and the tutor and I try to encourage my students to understand this and in turn better understand what they need to succeed.
