Personal Description:

My name is Kande and I am a fully qualified teacher (Lecturer) currently employed by a very well known Ofsted Outstanding FE College in London. I have previously worked in commerce and industry (working for big organisations like Unilever and Sainsbury's) and I have a wealth of industry experience in the fields of Accounting, Finance and Business Management. I am also a part qualified Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) having passed 13 out of the 14 professional Exams.
On a personal level, my friends, work colleagues and other people who know me will describe me as well organised, honest, reliable, dependable, patient, hard working, determined, caring, committed and responsible with a good sense of humour. I am also very friendly and approachable.

Teaching Experience:

With regards to my teaching experience, it dates back to many years when I had to work as Teaching Assistant to University Lecturers during my national service. I enjoyed the experience so much I promised myself to become a Lecturer myself one day. During this period, I assisted my allocated mentor in preparing and delivering lectures in Accounting, Auditing, Economics, Business Finance and Business Maths. My main involvement was in the preparation and provision of group and one to one tutorials to undergraduate students.
During my PGCE program, I experienced teaching again where I was placed in an FE college for my practical training. Here I was involved in curriculum design and development, lesson preparation and delivery to students of different levels and abilities ranging from entry levels to level 3 (BTEC, Access and A Levels). I also have experience of home tutoring Key stage 1 learners in the Thamesmead area. Within four weeks of my tutoring these children, they were moved to the highest ability group in their class in both English and Maths. I also tutor my own children who are always top of the class in their level. As a professionally qualified teacher, I have in-depth knowledge and understanding of both the National and Vocational Curriculum and assessments as well as coursework and exam preparation and marking. I have worked with learners of varying abilities and have developed strategies for individual improvement and achievement of practical educational goals.

Tutoring Approach:

As a professionally qualified and experienced Teacher/Lecturer, I have developed a well structured and target-orientated approach to teaching. I believe in structured, individual approach and my sessions are tailored to abilities of my learners - after assessment and often after consultation with school subject teachers and parents where appropriate. I have the ability to establish good personal rapport with all my learners and my sessions are praised for being friendly, informative, understandable, good-humoured and relaxed.
