Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified English teacher who has had to retire from full time classroom teaching due to ill health and disability. I am an extremely competent and professional teacher, and have continued with my vocation, teaching, to the best of my ability. To this extent I can offer my skills as a tutor for students up to, and including, A'Level. Over the past 8 years, working as a tutor, my students have all achieved excellent results and I have also proven to be very talented at raising students results from those predicted to 1 to 5 levels higher. I have experience of working with students at all levels, from those who may struggle with the subject to those who need an extra challenge, that they may feel they are not getting in the classroom. I am also experienced at teaching students with special educational needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Cerebal Palsy, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalcula, Deafness and visibility impairment, SPLD and many others.

Teaching Experience:

I have been an English Teacher for 3 years (4 including my training year). I was also a school ambassador and mentor during my degree and tutored to GCSE level while studying for my A'Levels. Over the course of the previous 8 years, I have tutored a variety of young people with a great deal of success, all of whom have achieved at least one grade higher than that predicted, and many of whom have achieved grades 2-5 levels higher. One student was predicted a 'U' grade & actually achieved a 'B' & a 'C', after receiving my assistance. I am obviously very proud of my students results and feel they offer evidence of my skills as a tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is two fold. I feel it is very important for my students to be relaxed and enjoy the tuition they receive in order for them to retain the information they are learning and be able to use it in the future. On the other hand it is important to work very intensively when tutoring, as the sessions pass very quickly and it is also important to cover a great deal of information in a short period of time. Therefore my tutoring sessions are relaxed yet intensive, fun whilst exhaustive.
