Information About Karolina:

Personal Description:

I am a successful graduate of Romance Philology - French Studies and Italian Language with teaching qualifications. The western European languages have always been the object of my personal interest, fascination and academic ambition.

Additionally, I have spent substantial time in France as a pre-preparatory teacher for children in Cannes as well as a student at the University of Angers. Now, I am a frequent traveller there.
Currently, I provide tutorials of French on all levels and Italian up to GCSE for individuals or small groups at my flat or outside.

My interests outside teaching are wide and varied. I enjoy reading French contemporary literature and watching French post-modernist films. I have an eclectic taste in art and I am involved in a large range of social activities.

The remaining part of my time I spend travelling and practising jogging and exercising on the gym (member of University of Bristol Sports Centre).

Personally, I consider myself an enthusiastic person who thoroughly enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others. I benefit from interacting with people and I am eager to learn and develop constantly my skills.

Teaching Experience:

My previous experience of working with young people aged 16 to 19, in three different schools, has strengthened my determination to teach. I enjoy the challenge of motivating the unenthusiastic learners alongside those who are gifted and highly motivated. I recognise the importance of working with a sense of humour and a degree of flexibility. In my current practice of personal tuition with adults and university students, I learn how to work with a small number of ambitious and challenging tutees with will and talent for languages.
I have my Qualified Teacher Status and I am a fully registered teacher in Bristol.
Additionally, I have spent substantial time in France as a pre-preparatory teacher for children in Cannes.
I always had a permanent contact and I was fond of working in multicultural settings with students from all over the world.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching is preferentially conducted in the taught language (especially for IB and A-Level students) with more complex grammar points being clarified in English to ensure proper comprehension.
My lessons focus both on dealing with practical everyday life situations and meeting the demands of preparation for the exams.
In order to further facilitate the learning process I always make use of my own selection of appropriate ICT tools, materials and computer programs sourced from the internet (e.g. PowerPoint presentations, TES connect MFL resources or Hot Potatoes exercises) which cover a wide range of language skills.

To summarise, my teaching strategy is based on a well balanced combination of activities and methods suited to individual students, approached either individually or as a part of a small group.

In my view, one of the most important challenges of every teacher should be to make the student gain confidence in using foreign language whilst being aware that every learner is different and approaches the subject in various ways. This individual approach helps to build a closer and more direct relationship for a better learning milieu. Finding a good connection with the students and being able to inspire them is what I personally find most rewarding.

Professional materials and effective modern methods guaranteed!
