Information About Mirjam:
Personal Description:
German and Spanish: I am a Newly Qualified Teacher and native speaker of German. I particularly enjoy sharing my culture with learners, but my strengths also include helping learners understand grammar, providing opportunities for speaking and 'creative' writing, designing games and activities etc. I am familiar with the specifications and assessment criteria for GCSE and A Level and can help learners achieve their full potential. I would also be happy to work with adult learners and cover topics that they are interested in.
English as a Foreign Language: In my current position as a teaching assistant, I teach English as an Additional Language to children of all ages. I originally studied to be an EFL teacher in my homecountry and have a detailed knowledge of English grammar.
Special Educational Needs: I have been working as a teaching assistant with children with special educational needs for three years. My pupils are aged 11 to 18 and I have experience of supporting pupils in a wide variety of subjects (MFL, maths, science, English, Foundation Learning). My strengths are patience, high expectations, keeping my pupils on task, boosting their confidence, open-mindedness and a positive attitude.

- Employment based teacher training, KS3 to KS5.
- 3 years of experience as a teaching assistant (SEN)
- Teaching Assistant of English Linguistics at university in Germany.
- Tutoring German pupils in English.
Tutoring Approach:
Depends on learners' needs, wishes and age. After an initial (self-) assessment of the learner's strengths and targets, I would be able to provide a variety of activities and exercises.
