Greta - Brentwood tutor
Information About Greta:
Personal Description:
I work at University of East London as mathematics tutor, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates, delivering individual support and classroom sessions covering mathematics and statistics, including their application in specialist contexts relating to various degree courses.
I was a Senior Researcher in Education at Anglia Ruskin University for thirteen years, before deciding to try out the "front line" and take a PGCE course to train as a teacher of Mathematics (at secondary-school level). After spending a year teaching in a school that had been on special measures, I became interested in one-to-one tuition, and started taking on a few pupils after school in 2009. This activity began to take over my work, so I dropped classroom teaching in favour of one-to-one tuition at various schools in Essex as well as at home. In 2012, I returned briefly to Anglia Ruskin University to deliver part-time lectures on a Mathematics Enhancement Course (a refresher course for PGCE students), with responsibility for delivering the statistics modules. Since 2015, I work at the University of East London as a mathematics tutor, delivering bespoke support sessions to individuals and classes across various degree programmes.
I have experience of tutoring primary, KS3, GCSE, and A-level maths. I am adaptable to the needs of the students, covering the topics they feel need attention. I am prepared to tutor individuals, pairs, or small groups.

Tutoring Approach:
Tailored to the needs of the student. Typically concentrate on areas where student is struggling, and work through questions to explain the method of answering the question. Questions from past papers provided for the student to attempt at home, with answers discussed in a relaxed and friendly manner. Also able to review homework, and explain what could be improved and how, as well as decoding those complicated wordy questions. Exam technique considered.
