Information About Jennifer:

Personal Description:

My name is Jennifer, I am a mature student who is currently undertaking a Masters Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I recently graduated from Reading University with a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy and Ancient History. I have several years of experience working with children of several age groups, and am currently training to become a Secondary School teacher. I am dedicated and passionate about learning, I have excellent exam technique, and always achieve results.

Teaching Experience:

1.) One years experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a Catholic Primary school, where I was directly involved in Year 6 preparation for 11+ examinations. I also obtained 8 months experience working with children with Autism and learning difficulties.
2.) Two years experience in Secondary Education n the Langley area, in which I lectured A-Level Philosophy and taught Year 7-9 Religious Education. I also tutored several GCSE students during the Summer examination period.
3.) I have chaperoned educational trips abroad to Greece and the surrounding islands, with children studying Ancient History at GCSE and A-Level.
4.) I am also heavily involved in the Girl Guide association in both the UK and America, having undertaken a year in New York a Drama Director for a local Summer camp.

Tutoring Approach:

My typical approach with a new student, would be to have an initial one on one discussion about the subject they feel they need support in, what areas they are struggling in, and what parts of the subject they enjoy or dislike. This allows the student to take control over their own learning, in order to feel pride in their achievement of a good result in the end.

My style is to provide guidance and support in the areas which the student feels less confident in, whilst reinforcing the areas which they enjoy, or are perhaps more able in.
This allows for a well balanced, diverse and enjoyable teaching framework, for both the pupil and the student.
