Personal Description:

I am a qualified RE/Humanities teacher teaching in the North London area. I have also been tutoring Maths and English up to GCSE standard for 5 years.

I studied at North London Collegiate School and hold a degree in Philoophy from UCL.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for 5 years now, and am a qualified RE and Humanities teacher. I have also worked as a teaching assistant in both mainstream settings and a Pupil Referral Unit.

I specialise in the Edexcel GCSE RS course and Philosophy and Ethics specifications at A-Level- in particular AQA.

I hold up to date DBS checks.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that good teaching is integral to students' learning. Many students have told me that they have experiences of a teacher may be intelligent and passionate about their subject, but are not able to communicate and engage with students. I believe that engaging with the student and their method of learning is key to the student understanding the work.

In tutoring and I use constant encouragement and affirmation to support young people in their learning. I find this is particularly important when learners have had difficult prior experiences of school. I use encouragement and constant reassurance to facilitate a greater understanding of each topic. In addition I find that it is crucial, especially with younger children to teach interactively and to make sure that they are actively participating in each task.

When tutoring students in preparation for an exam I ensure that both myself and the student follow the marking criteria and the exam specification closely to increase their awareness of the markscheme and thus improve their attainment.

• GCSE- maths, english literature, english language, double science; chemistry, biology, physics, religious studies, geography, spanish, art, DT- all A*
• International Baccalaureate- English, Maths, Philosophy, Geography, Spanish, Biology- 43points (out of 45)
• BA Philosophy- 2.1 from UCL
• PGCE in Religious Education
