Information About Amanda:

Personal Description:

I am a recent graduate from the University of London, and have studied Literature, History and the Italian language as parts of my degree. Additionally, I have developed a wide knowledge of philosophy, both in generally as part of my study, and in a specialized course on Art Philosophy in my final year.

As a relatively young tutor I pride myself on my ability to engage with pupils, and enjoy working with individuals towards a strong personal goal. I believe that even compulsory education should be enjoyable, and that with a little nudge in the right direction, any pupil can discover a life-long passion for learning.

Teaching Experience:

As President of my University's Creative Writing Society, I was actively involved in giving constructive criticism and feedback to members. I believe that my personal approach helped to build their confidence and skills in equal measure.

Both before and during my University career I have taken opportunities to do work experience at local schools, and to work with students of all ages.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a solid essay writing style is the foundation to any academic subject, just as grammar underpins any language. This is especially vital to those pupils working towards a University place, but is in fact important in all walks of life. Solid writing and language skills open doors to interviews and careers just as much as they do to Halls of Residences.

I work to ensure that these vital elements are interesting and exciting to pupils, while building on their knowledge of the subject material. Many pupils are surprised to realize just how much they know about a subject, and this realization can provide a real boost to their confidence. This confidence is the key to the fantastic results I want to inspire my students to achieve.
