Personal Description:

I enjoy working with children and can offer you enthusiasm for science and dedication to aiding children of all abilities. I am well informed about the science curriculum in secondary schools and know where to get further information about other curriculum subjects for different ages. I have already developed a range of resources from the schools that I have had experience with and have good communication, ICT, literacy and numeracy skills. Outside of my studies at university I was also a member of the canoe club and was responsible for leading groups of kayakers or canoeists on the river. I completed a Level one British Canoe Union (BCU) Coaching Award and Aquatic First Aid to enable me to full the requirements of this role adequately. Even after leaving university I still take an active role in coaching new members to the university's canoe club and helping out with trips. This role within the club requires a lot of responsibility, teamwork and trust.

Teaching Experience:

I have had some work experience in 4 secondary schools over the last 2 years as both an observer and in doing some training towards becoming a teacher. During my time within these schools I have developed my planning and organisational skills as well as developing some of my own teaching resources. As of September I shall be working as an LSA in the mornings within a Primary school to expand my school experience but would like to offer my afternoons up to tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

My main approach to tutoring is to make the learning enjoyable and creative. This is done by initially establishing how the child pefers to learn and what teaching tatics and interests they respond to best to make the science easier for them to both understand and relate to.
