Personal Description:
I have a BSc in Ecology, MSc in Instrumental Analytical Analysis, and am currently writing up my PhD (Biological science) thesis. Although these subjects are mainly biological, they required a strong background knowledge of maths and chemistry.
Teaching Experience:
Throughout my MSc and PhD degree programs I have also worked as a teaching assistant to first and second year (BSc) students and during the final year of my PhD I supervised an MSc project (including method development, laboratory work and write up). The teaching assistant position included instructing students in laboratory practicals (ensuring they understood the concept and aims) and assessing reports (writing and content).
Tutoring Approach:
My tutoring approach will depend on the individual student, as I have found one technique cannot be applied to all. I do, however, believe in making sure students are thinking for themselves and are able to thoroughly explain subjects and concepts, and not simply repeat model answers or 'memorised facts'
