Personal Description:
I graduated from Edinburgh University in History and Politics with the highest marks in the graduating class. I have since completed a Masters in American History and a PhD on the African American freedom struggle and have published scholarly articles in various journals.
Teaching Experience:
I have one year's experience teaching first year university students, making the crucial bridge between A Level and University. I also have also tutored GCSE and A Level students, all of which obtained at least the grades they required for further study.
Tutoring Approach:
The direction should come from you In the first session, we will determine where your areas of development are and what you hope to get out of tutoring - exam preparation, essay help, dissertation writing and so on. History is as much about personal development, skills building and essay writing as rote learning, so sessions will focus on putting learning into practice, through essay plans and presentations. I have an interactive style and will challenge you to think about the topic, learn details and engage in discussion on essay topics. I will provide feedback on drafts for essays and assignments.
