Personal Description:
I'm a full-time tutor, which means that my students come first. You won't find yourself squeezed in beside a hectic day job or research.
As a Cambridge graduate with an MA in Spanish and French, I am not only an experienced linguist but have also studied literary theory and criticism (essential for English Literature from GCSE onwards) to an advanced level - and enjoy helping others to get to grips with them.
I work with students of all ages and levels - no two lessons are ever the same!
Teaching Experience:
I officially began tutoring in 2004 whilst living and studying in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The wide range of students I have worked with since that time allowed me to gain experience of adapting to individuals' specific needs, including complete beginners, exam preparation and those interested in specialist areas.
Tutoring Approach:
We can often overcome our struggle with a subject simply by trying a different approach, and as a private tutor this is what I aim to help you do.
Each learner is different, and you may want to specify where the focus of a class lies, but with languages I favour a strongly practical approach, which gets you learning intuitively and is much more enjoyable than being slumped over a text book. We'll cover all the theory you need, too.
In English Literature, whether it's helping decipher your first Shakespearean play or ensuring that that final essay really stands out from the rest - I can help.
