Personal Description:

o I am a confident and charismatic individual and I strive to be approachable and friendly at all times.
o I have a passion for learning and take great pride in my academic achievements, which have culminated in my study of Economics & Management at the University of Oxford.
o I have experience of chairing meetings and coordinating projects from my role as leader of my school council.
o I work well with individuals of all age and academic ability, and I have successfully mentored several students in Physics, English & Maths.

Teaching Experience:

I have been intimately involved in the learning review of my school, (Burnham Grammar School), which gave me a great deal of insight into the learning behaviors of students. As a result, I have successfully mentored several students in my school environment & delivered a personally prepared lesson to my AS history class - an opportunity never previously afforded to a student. My English & History essays are frequently used as exemplars and I am comfortable with sharing these pieces of work with those who I tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a very personal approach to tutoring, ensuring my tutees feel comfortable in my company in order to make the learning environment enjoyable. I will generally begin tutoring by establishing the topics which the tutee is currently finding most difficult and concentrate on improving these aspects of the course. In order to improve understanding I often find it is useful to work through some questions with the tutee and identify the particular difficulties they may be having - before explaining useful techniques or tips. In order to progress I will ask the tutee to complete certain exercises between sessions, which will be reviewed when we next meet.

Above all, I feel it is important to tailor my style of tutoring to each individual's needs and ensure that they enjoy the sessions. The best way to improve is to spend a lot of time practicing, and the best way to make this happen is to make the experience of learning fun.

• 9 A*, 3 A at GCSE (Specifics available on request)
• A*AAA at A level (English Literature, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics)
• A at AS Level (History)
