Amanda - Warrington tutor
Information About Amanda:
Personal Description:
I am a 22 year old ex-University Student.
I graduated in 2008 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Drama, Physical Theatre and Dance. The degree was mostly theory based covering arts history, technical theatre, performance practice, text analysis and study of key practitioners.
Prior to this I studied A Levels in Theatre Studies(Grade A), Performance Studies(Grade A), English Language(Grade A), English Literature(Grade A), Psychology(Grade B) and ICT(Grade B).
I am also enrolled to begin my Postgraduate teaching degree in September 2010 to enable me to become a full time Secondary Performing Arts Teacher.
I am happy to supply various written and practical work examples that I have done as part of my own education and current practice in order for you to assess my suitability for your tutoring.
Teaching Experience:
I have ran Drama workshop sessions since the age of 19, and I have CRB clearance to work with all ages of Children.
I also do part time Stage Management tutoring at my local Sixth Form College, and also part time Stage Management lecturing at a local University. These subject areas allow students to not only learn about theatre arts but also focus on the organisational aspects of creating theatre - thus leading to good communication and study skills which are transferable to other subjects areas.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is quite simply; I like to bring my subject to life. If a student does not explain a theory or principal in one way I will always find another more creative and open way to allow the student to understand.
From my acting background I'm quite good at knowing when a student does not understand the subject and my creative background allows me to approach a subject from lots of different angles until the result is found.
With regards to study skills I am a naturally organised person, and I know from experience that everyone does not revise in the same way - I have a variety of techniques to teach my students and on a trial and error basis we will always find the most suitable learning approach for the individual.
