Safowan - East Ham tutor
Information About Safowan:
Personal Description:
My name is Safowan and I'm currently working as a software tester. Having graduated with a 2.1 honours in Mathematics I want to inspire young learners to achieve and fulfil their aims and ambitions during evenings and weekends. Tutoring has always been rewarding for me and it gives me great pleasure to share my knowledge to benefit others.
Teaching Experience:
My experience in teaching ranges from a placement in a secondary school as part of the student associates scheme (SAS) to private tutoring.
During my time at Royal Docks Community School as a Teaching Assistant, I worked closely with senior teachers in the Mathematics department. My daily responsibilities included; assisting pupils with their learning by working with small groups and on a one to one basis, assisting teachers with any administration tasks, occasionally working with SEN students, helping to ensure pupil disruption is kept to a minimum, having performance reviews from head of department, and ensuring school's policies and procedures are maintained at all times.
I also have three years experience in tutoring a range of students, from ks2 through to gcse. This enabled me to gain experience of lesson planning, marking, exam preparation and identifying weaknesses and addressing them according to the student's ability. Therefore, time management played an important role as I had to prepare for each lesson, taking into consideration any changes that might occur in the lesson, and ensure the student learns a topic with enough practice questions under timed lessons.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching would be to tutor my subject in a fun and friendly environment. Mathematics can be a difficult subject to grasp but can be understood better and enjoyable to learn if taught in a more positive and proactive manner. I prefer to explain the very basics of each topic at first before engaging with the student to try out the practice questions. As the student grows in more confidence, they will learn some exam strategies and techniques to overcome exam pressures.
