Personal Description:

I am a 24 year old female who has recently returned from teaching secondary biology/science/english at a high school in Thailand.
I completed my first degree, BSc Hons in Applied Marine Biology (2.1) at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
I have always been fascinated with biology from an early age and found I had a talent for it when I reached High School. In my standard grades I achieved grades 1-2 for all of my 8 subjects which included Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I then went on to do 5 Highers (Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics and English) and Advanced Higher Biology.

Since leaving University, I have demonstrated in some classes and I have been accepted for teacher training (secondary biology at Moray House) as I would like to bring the passion I have for science to the next generations.

I am friendly and approachable, with a broad knowledge of Biology and how the SQA system operates.

Teaching Experience:

I have recently just got back from teaching Biology/science/english in Thailand. Here I taught in a secondary school.

I also have experience demonstrating at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, where I explained the theory behind the tasks to enable my group to contribute to the overall classes results.

Throughout my last few years at High School I also scribed and aided students in some classes, as well as assisting in the laboratories. I also took part in the paired reading program, helping lower years with their literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to make my tuition fun by not just helping my students learn what they need to know to pass their test, but to add to it with exciting up-to-date facts that are relevant to their subject. I have found if given information as examples students retain it for longer.
I would provide structured classes around the needs of the pupil to allow them to have time to understand all aspects of the course whilst keeping them motivated.

• BSc (Hons) Applied Marine Biology, Heriot-Watt University
• Advanced Higher Biology
• 5 Scottish Highers including Biology, Mathematics and Geography
• 8 Standard grades
