Personal Description:

I am a 24 year old graduate from the University of Nottingham where I studied Finance, Accounting and Management. Currently in between jobs, I have a strong passion for finance and as a result highly refined numerical skills. My career path has so far led me into investment banking and I have worked at a number of global banks. During my time at school I studied Maths, Economics and Philosophy at 'A' Level, gaining A grades in all 3 subjects. In these examinations I also achieved an average of 90% in Economics (as well as full marks in 2 modules) and 90% in Maths. At GCSE I also achieved an average of 95% in my Maths examinations.

Teaching Experience:

During my gap year and first year at university I tutored privately as well as at a tuition centre and therefore feel extremely confident with my teaching methods. I have gained a lot of experience particularly in learning different methods by which children learn and tailoring my teaching style to suit each child. Over the years I have privately tutored approximately 25 children for varying amounts of time: some intensely for a few weeks before important exams and others at a slower pace for longer periods of time.
I have tutored many children in preparation for 7+ as well as the 11+ entrance exams at a range of schools and a large number for GCSE Mathematics.

Having tutored for over 4 years I have realised the most important thing to recognise when teaching a child is that they are unique and the teaching style must reflect this. It is vital that the methods being used suit the child and they enjoy learning in this way.

I also believe that regular testing and monitoring progress are fundamental to achieve high grades in examinations and in my view it is the exam practise which is the key to success on the big day. I would encourage the student to get as much practise as possible under exam conditions so they are able to perform to the best of their ability on the day.

Having completed my university degree a few years ago I am familiar with the importance of exam technique and perfecting your revision strategy.
