Personal Description:

I am the Head of Psychology at a Secondary School in North Somerset. I love my subject and have inspired many students to take Psychology at degree level. I am a very easy to talk to person and pride myself on the ease at which i am able to communicate my subject to the studnts that I teach. I can explain psychological concepts in an easy to understand way. The students i teach at my school love my diagrams and pictures i use to explain difficult theories. I love teaching and have been selected by the exam board to teach teachers in other countries how to get the best results from their students. I even travelled to Saudi Arabia to advise an international school, where I was observed teaching to show them best practice. In my spare time I write resources for teachers to use and have also been writing a lot of the materials for the AQA exam board to support teachers new to teaching Psychology.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 8 years Psychology at GCSE and A Level and have taught Sociology for one year. I have been on exam board committees for a number of years, and have also been involved in writing the exam papers so have a lot of knowledge about exam technique. I have a Psychology degree, and I have recently finished a masters in education into improving teaching at my school.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to work on key concepts and theories, through ensuring the tutee understands the concepts. I then work on the criticism/ evaluations of the theories because at A Level especially has a big focus on application and evaluation. We then work through exam questions and how to structure them so that the tutee is fully prepared for the exam.

• MA Masters in education - Exeter University
