Information About Kimberley:

Personal Description:

I currently teach A-Level Psychology and am also a qualified teacher in secondary science, with experience teaching all three science up to GCSE level, including exam preparation. I am also a keen mathematician, having nearly studied it as a degree, and this is something I really enjoy tutoring. I like the contrast of tutoring one-one-one; particularly exam preparation for GCSE, and helping students in areas they struggle.

Outside of academia I enjoy rock climbing, running, fencing and surfing, and am a member of the local triathlon club.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach sixth form Psychology (AQA A) and KS3 Science, and have recently taught GCSE Science at High School to wide range of different ability classes.

I have a broad range of tutoring experience, having tutored A-Level Psychology (previous three students have gone from D to A, D to a B & E to B), GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics (student scored 100% on her weakest paper), GCSE Maths (student achieved a B after changing entry from lower paper; teacher's prediction was D), Key Skills 2 Maths (student passed after four lessons, having failed twice prior), as well as English as a foreign language.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I use a lot of positive encouragement to help each student develop their subject knowledge and skills. It is important to me that tutees feel comfortable to explain their thinking and answers, even when incorrect, so that progress can be made. I am very adaptable in my approach to teaching and will quickly discern how each students learns best, going at their pace.
