Personal Description:
I am currently studying primary education at university. I will graduate in July 2010 and hold qualified teacher status. I also undertake supply work within my local area and have a range of experience in a number of schools.
As part of my course I am taking a TESOL (teaching english to speakers of other languages) module, this is intended for adult learners but is easily adaptable to children with little english.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught the whole of the primary age phase in a number of schools. I have a thorough understanding of the curriculum and up to date knowledge of teaching methods used to support this.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that tutoring should build on children's work in schools. In previous roles I have worked through the childs set homework and then consolidated any misconceptions using my own resources. If there is a particular weakness that needs focused attention this can be done in each session to ensure the child doesn't become bored and resen the sessions. I try to make the time as stimulating as possible as I am well aware many children do not want to do more wok after a whole day at school!
