Personal Description:
My name is Fleur. I am British (Welsh/Irish) with a German/Iranian husband, called Ramin.
I live in South Wales with Ramin and my three legged cat, Sophie!
I love to travel and meet people from different cultures and countries. I speak conversational German and a few sentences in Mandarin Chinese!
I am involved in community life in Wales and I hope that my work as a teacher empowers people, young and old to believe in themselves and develop their potential to help contribute to society and lead happy, fulfilled lives.
Teaching Experience:
I am a qualified teacher with over 13 years experience.
I live in the Valleys of South Wales - and can travel to Newport and Cardiff if needed.
I lived and worked in China for a year and Germany for five years where I taught English as a Foreign language to children aged 3-17 and adults - both basic and business English.
I am also a professional singer/song-writer and teach singing privately and lead a Women's Community Singing Group for Refugees and Local women in Cardiff (working for Sherman Cymru).
I have taught Drama (workshops, audition directing, confidence building and drama for children) for over 13 years and have worked in schools, community settings and seasonal camps in the UK and Europe (Germany and France).
I also teach at the Baha'i Arts Academy and have experience running Singing courses with International groups of students - working with beginners through to experienced singers.
Tutoring Approach:
I am a friendly, encouraging and communicative teacher. I teach one-to-one lessons, groups and large groups.
When teaching singing: I truly believe that everyone can sing - we just have to learn how to use the instrument of our voice and how to listen!
When teaching English: I enjoy assisting my students to develop their language skills in a relaxed and encouraging environment. I believe listening and speaking are the best ways to learn, with reading and writing being used as stimulants for discussion and to assist the memory/firm up ideas - rather than as the main ways of working.
My drama lessons are fun, full of energy and life and help students learn how to work as a team, believe in and express themselves creatively!
