Chantal - West Kensington tutor
Information About Chantal:
Personal Description:
I completed both my undergraduate degree and PhD at University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences (biology) and medicine, specialising in the immune system. I am currently studying graduate medicine at Imperial College London.
Teaching Experience:
I have had 10 years of extensive experience in teaching. In maths and sciences I have taken on many GCSE students who started with me at around B grade level, and later went on to achieve grade A*. I also have many years of experience of giving mock interviews and coaching for students wanting to apply to Oxbridge and for medicine. I have experience of being on interview panels for university admissions so I have a clear understanding of what the interviewer is looking for. I have also tutored several university students studying medicine.
Tutoring Approach:
I thoroughly enjoy teaching because it is a joy to impart knowledge to children and experience the learning triumphs with them. It is so rewarding to watch a child reach their highest potential and succeed in exams. It is also important to inspire enthusiasm in learning so that children can take a more proactive approach in their studies. Learning how to study is of equal importance to knowledge of a subject in order to progress further in examinations.
GCSE and A-level examinations are increasingly stressful for students. I find that practice papers and questions are vital for a person's confidence in exams, and to ensure that their revision has prepared them sufficiently. My mother is a chemistry teacher and has a large supply of past papers, syllabus specific questions and worksheets for sciences and maths, which greatly aids my tutoring.
It can be a very daunting process to apply to Oxbridge or medicine because most students have not had much experience of interviews and it can be difficult to know what to expect or to know how to perform at the best of one's ability. However through practice and breaking down the elements of the interview process using past questions one's performance can be greatly improved.
