Information About Chris:

Personal Description:

Hello. My name is Chris. I graduated from Lancaster University in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in law, and from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2013 a Master's degree in law. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education (Bradford College, 2014).

As a person, I always try to be friendly and approachable. I get real enjoyment from guiding others towards understanding and achievement. As a tutor, my wish is to pass on the benefits of my educational background to my tutees.

I hope you feel that I can offer you the teaching you're looking for, and if so, I look forward to meeting you!

Teaching Experience:

I have an excellent grounding in all the subjects on which I offer tutoring, having studied them to the level at which I teach them and beyond. Taking law as an example, my own learning experience has given me knowledge of the main areas of substantive law taught at A-level and at university, and of the UK's legal arrangements. It has also given me an awareness of legal thinking, and experience in applying legal research skills.

I have worked as a primary school teaching assistant for several years, supporting children of all ages and abilities, including those with special educational needs. As mentioned, I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education, and have undergone multiple specialist training courses. My work as a teaching assistant was assessed as 'good with outstanding features'.

I am an established and successful private tutor. I have always built up successful working relationships with my tutees, and have received consistently excellent feedback from them.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a relaxed but methodological approach to tutoring. I am patient with the tutee, but am also sensitive to his or her progress.

I like to use the first tutorial with any tutee to get to know him or her. I aim to find out about the tutee's strengths and weaknesses and learning style, as well as the areas of study on which he or she intends to focus. I then prepare a tutoring plan based on this information. I do not tend to set homework, but do provide this option.
