Personal Description:

I'm a 23 year old English Literature graduate from Glasgow University and I am currently studying to become a high-school English teacher (PGDE). I achieved excellent grades throughout my time at university for both written and oral work. I've studied a wide range of eras including Shakespeare, Romantic, Victorian, American and Modern. I also have an area of expertise in fantasy texts.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring in the Falkirk area for the past three years. Last year I tutored students for Int. 2 and Higher level English and they all achieved excellent results. I also have work experience from teaching at my local primary school and secondary school experience from my university teaching placements. As it has been only a few years since I was sitting my qualifications at school and I've recently finished sitting exams at university, it is easy for me to relate to the challenges of standard grade/higher/advanced higher examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

During tutoring sessions we would look at the texts that you are studying, including discussions about themes, motifs and symbols within the text. We will also consider the structure of writing an essay and also what sort of questions you should prepare for in your exam. The individual focus of each session would be on where we consider to be your weaker areas, whether this be close reading, textual analysis, essay writing or personal study. I always provide my email and mobile number, which both parents and pupils can use to contact me at any time should they have any questions or require additional support throughout the week/weekend - past students have found this particularly valuable during exam time. I will always be punctual and reliable. Please note that for Standard Grade/Int 1/Int 2 tutoring, it is twenty pounds per hour. For Higher/Advanced Higher tutoring, it is twenty-five pounds per hour.

• MA English Literature Honours Degree 2.2 with honours
