Rachel - Manchester tutor
Information About Rachel:
Personal Description:
Current postgraduate at the University of Manchester studying Fluid Dynamics, have a BSc in Mathematics and Business and also work part time as a Financial Analyst at a local Chartered Surveyors. My academic background is mostly scientific, however also have grade A A-levels in English Langauage and Literature, Sociology and Politics and 13 GCSE's.
I'm available all evenings and weekends and could also negotiate occasional weekday sessions if required, either at my home, at the home of the tutee anywhere in Greater Manchester (accessible by public transport), or any other preferred location. Also in the case of tutees under a certain age I would be more than happy to meet with the parents at their home before any commitments are made.
Should you wish to know anything else please don't hesitate to get in touch and discuss any queries you may have with me.
Teaching Experience:
No prior hands-on teaching experience, however have worked as a Student Ambassador for the University of Manchester working with young people from 11 -18 in various ways from giving tours and presentations to assisting project days using our library facilities. Also worked with the PASS program in the Mathematics department, a service for first year students to discuss any problems with course material with 2nd and 3rd year students.
Tutoring Approach:
Friendly and relaxed but efficient approach. Focus on understanding above just memorising, and particularly on good exam technique. Will put in significant effort in my own time, putting together and marking practice questions and planning all sessions in advance.
