Information About Kimberley:

Personal Description:

I am permanently based in the area after having moved back after working across the UK with national and international students. I have a passion for literature, both classic and modern. I am fully awre of standards set and required by examining bodies and focus on personalised skills based teaching to support students success. Furthermore, I remember the angst and challenges this qualification and other external assessments brings.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored for the last four years, teaching both male and female pupils of all abilities for Standard Grade, Intermediates and Higher. Furthermore, I have mentored and provided advice at Advanced Higher level.

Having worked within schools for the last four years I have experienced the hype of the roll out of Curriculum for Excellence which in turns means that my approach is both set towards passing the exam but also to provide pupils with skills for life. I believe that pupils enjoyment and choice is at the heart of their learning and try early on to get them to take responsibility for their own learning, in terms of recognising where they need to progress and them understanding how to succeed.


Furthermore in April 2010 I worked with East Renfrewshire council as an external marker for their S2 standardised testing and I have marked for the SQA since 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is individualised based on the pupils needs. Usually I begin with writing and a close reading activity to assess the student's level of understanding. From this point we work together to draw up a plan of action. Sometimes this plan is interrupted due to the demands of schoolwork however I continue to refer back to it and provide the pupil with resources that they can work on in their own time.
