Personal Description:
An ACCA qualified accountant having worked in the Commercial sector over the last 10 years. I have a friendly demeanor with a positive outlook to life. I'm keen to share my knowledge and experience with students with the hope that they will continue to enjoy learning throughout their lives.
Teaching Experience:
Over the last 2 years, I've provided Accounting/Finance and Economics tuition to many students who've gone on to excel in their studies.
Tutoring Approach:
I offer a novel and fresh perspective to subjects which students may find dull and boring.
My strong communication skills combined with extensive subject matter knowledge makes it easy to explain concepts clearly. I use examples that are relevant to the student's life to increase understanding and always check with the student to make sure he/she understands me. I take care to explain things in different ways.
I approach the material in small, manageable units to allow the student to learn each concept and skill. I strongly believe in incorporating real-world examples into my teaching. Not only does this make the material more relevant and increase academic success, it also helps students engage critically with the world (and not merely able to reproduce what text books tell them).
A key role of tuition is to not only aid the understanding of students in the subject matter but to also improve general study skills and to approach the exams in the correct manner. I believe exam practice is key and hence work through past questions from the beginning to ensure students gain confidence and are comfortable with exams to help achieve success.
Finally, I challenge and motivate students to reach higher levels. Hence I always provide feedback and give very specific comments so that students can improve their work.
