Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Carmen and I have been teaching mathematics and mandarin as a personal tutor for over 4 years. I'm a patient and professional individual with a passion to teach (which I'm sure all of my previous students will tell you). I like to give it my all when I'm teaching so I expect the same from my students and hopefully with this level of commitment we will all reach our goals however high they may be.

Teaching Experience:

Mathematics

I see myself as a very seasoned mathematics personal tutor who has taught many students ranging from Key Stage 1 all the way to Second year university economics student. The majority of my students are between Key Stage 1 to GCSE level so I have no problem teaching younger students.

In 2014, I helped 3 students achieve their personal goals in GCSE maths exam successfully.

Mandarin

As a native mandarin speaker I am very confident in teaching my mother tongue to others. While I was in China I was already teaching Mandarin to foreign students in China and from this I have carried on teaching in England. I have taught from beginner to intermediate level, with ages ranging from 6-75 years of age.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons will be tailored to each student's needs, to help them improve themselves and reach their goals. Every 6 lessons I will give the student a test to track progress and with this I will write a short report which will provide feedback on the students' progress and the next steps I will take to further improve and develop their skills. I hope to involve the parent(s)/guardian(s)/student as much as possible with my feedback so that improvements will be as efficient as possible.

My consultation for all new students is completely free, this includes the following:

· A face to face chat to discuss their goals/expectations
· A short test for the student to analyse the level the student is currently at.


Unfortunately, there will be an extra charge for students that live a certain distance away to cover my travelling costs. The details are as follows:

Within 3 miles No extra fee

3-5 miles £2 extra per lesson

5 miles or over further discussion needed


If it is more convenient, I also welcome pupils to my house for their lessons.


If you are a group of over 3 people and wish to have a lesson together, there will be 10% discount on each person.

If my current student introduce new clients to me, you can have 50% off for your next lesson.
