Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher who has spent some time teaching adults with learning difficulties. I have also taught briefly in both the state and private school systems as well as helping graduates whose level of knowledge required boosting prior to completing their PGCE courses. These experiences have made me so enthusiastic about teaching science that in 2008 I completed a full-time postgraduate course to enable me to teach physics to 'A' level followed by a course covering the content of the latest GCSE science syllabuses.

Teaching Experience:

I have three years experience of teaching post 16s with learning difficulties. I also have experience of teaching all the sciences to GCSE in both the state and private systems and Physics to 'A' level. Before I entered teaching I trained staff in several areas of IT in the commercial world. I have also trained people in various leisure activities, including fitness training.

Tutoring Approach:

In order to tutor a student I need to come alongside them and reassure them whilst building a relationship with them. Once this is done a plan of action can be formed and really effective tutoring can begin. The plan can be changed as often as required as the needs of the student change. Although I am always enthusiastic about science I relate all work that the student and I carry out together to the syllabus of the relevant examining body. I have a very patient and encouraging approach to tutoring but will always ensure that the student is on track. A student's understanding of a topic is regularly tested and I build in revision work so that the stress on the student at exam time is lessened.
