Nevada - Blackheath tutor
Information About Nevada:
Personal Description:
I have just graduated from University College London where I studied for a BA Hons in Economics and East-European Studies. I am 22 years old, I currently work for a large (one of the big four) Consulting firms based in Central London. I am currently studying for ISEB examinations and my CFA diploma. I am an enthusiastic and experienced tutor, who believes that a good teacher can make all the difference. Given my interdisciplinary background, I have a flexible and open-minded and creative attitude to study, all the while ensuring targets are met and progress is made, regardless of training or level. I am multilingual and can relate to a variety of ethnic backgrounds, given my teaching and own immigration experience.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught students of different levels and abilites and have always had great success in helping them achieve their goals. I have worked with my last student toward her Mathematics A-Level target Grade of C, which achieved an A (with 95% achieved in her last two modules), despite the provisional fail grade before private tuition started. I have maintained a friendly, relaxed relationship with former students. I have experience of tutoring to a wide range of students, of varying standards and ages. I am also a mentor to several young people in order to assist them in their applications to university and to offer support and guidance where I can. I am currently tutoring two A-Level Economics students and three Math A-Level students. I also have two students who are preparing to take 11+ exams next academic year.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is supportive and structured, working in dialogue with the individual pupil. I believe education is one of the most important investments we can ever make in life. Given this, a passion for personal learning, and a committment to helping students achieve success, I am particularly fond of teaching. The interaction and creativity involved in exploring new ideas and ways to see the world means I relish the teaching experience, whereby horizons are expanded mutually. I am constantly developing new skills and approaches to engage students on both professional and personal levels.Tutoring is a highly personal exchange. I aim to make any tutee feel comfortable in my presence and understand clearly the aims of each tutorial. Most importantly, every student should be considered sensitively and individually- in a manner specific to their needs. I tend to take a structured approach to learning, where goals are made using the SMART tool and evaluated constantly to measure progress.
